Overview

While the Republic has much to explore, there's plenty of delight to be found north of the border too. Let Irish Day Tours take you from Dublin to Giant's Causeway and back, as well as a few other fantastic stops along the way.

So what can you expect? Well, Dark Hedges is a charming highlight of the Giant's Causeway Day Tour from Dublin, located just 30 minutes from the main attraction itself. This is, of course, Giant's Causeway — a truly unique piece of coastline you won't forget in a hurry.

And we round off our day tour to Giant's Causeway with time spent at the engaging, yet poignant, Titanic experience in the Northern Irish capital, Belfast.

Itinerary

6:30 am: DEPART DUBLIN

We'll meet nice and early at the Molly Malone Statue on Dublin's Suffolk Street. From here, our bus from Dublin to Giant's Causeway heads north and towards Northern Ireland. An excellent day trip awaits.

10.45 am: Dark Hedges (Instead of  the attraction Carrick a rope)

If you've ever seen the hit show Game of Thrones, you might recognise the first stop on our list. Dark Hedges is a beech tree-lined avenue, and it doubled up as the Kingsroad in the hit TV show. Even if you're not a fan of the epic adaptation of George R.R. Martin's novels, you can't fail to be enchanted by the arcing tunnels beneath the trees.

12:15 pm: GIANT’S CAUSEWAY

Just half an hour away from Dark Hedges, Giant's Causeway is home to around 40,000 basalt columns. Northern Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage Site is a place where culture and nature collide. From the natural formations of the Chimney Stacks to the incredible tale of Finn McCool, there's much to delve into here

4:00 pm: THE TITANIC - BELFAST

In 1912, the Titanic set out from Belfast, Northern Ireland, headed for Southampton. You'll get to learn all about the historic, and ultimately tragic, story of the ship as we arrive at this fascinating museum.

8:00 pm: ARRIVE BACK IN DUBLIN

We aim to arrive back in Dublin around eight in the evening. You're sure to have plenty of pictures, memories, and stories to tell after this full-day exploration of some of Northern Ireland's highlights.

All times are approximate and subject to change based on traffic conditions

Drop off

The Irish Day Tours Giant's Causeway experience ends precisely where it began — at Suffolk Street's Molly Malone statue. We aim to be back here at 8:00 PM, depending on traffic.

Things to bring

After you've made your Giant's Causeway Day Tour from Dublin booking, it's time to start putting together your kit for a great day out in Northern Ireland. Consider bringing:

  • Camera

  • Sunglasses

  • Raincoat – just in case it rains!

  • Headphones to listen to the commentary on the multi-lingual app

  • Charging cable and power bank to keep your devices charged (some buses do have charging ports but not all)

  • Spending money (€ Euro & £ Sterling)/ credit card to pick up souvenirs & tip your driver!

You'll certainly need to be prepared for big changes in the weather — Ireland can cycle through all four seasons in the space of one day. You also won't be able to avoid walking on uneven terrain if you want to get close to Giant's Causeway, so comfortable shoes with ankle support are highly recommended.
